A credit card and debit card are useful for different things. A credit card is money that is loaned to you from your line of credit and can be payed back over time. A debit card is money that is taken from your bank's checking accounts. When using a credit card, it should be only on little purchases that you know you can repay, fixed monthly bills, and responsible spending which can increase your credit score. A debit card is not meant for daily things, and also checking accounts do not offer interest. This means any money in your checking account is not earning you money. The only money that is being put into the account is money you put into it.
